CLIENT ANIMATION

More of my Animation work can be viewed on my Youtube Page
And now, I have a confession to make... Something I'm not too proud of.... Okay, here goes. Over this winter, I found that I hadn't done any client work in a while, and so I decided to - I decided to participate in one of those Designer contest websites, where I do tryout work along with several other artists, in the hopes of landing some paying gig. I know, I know, it doesn't exactly strengthen one's position to do this kind of thing, but my reasoning was that maybe I was getting a little self indulgent, only working for myself and not honing my skills against the expectations of a potential client. A little art boot camp was in order, and boot camp it has been indeed.
Anyways I came away from the experience with empty pockets but much richer, I believe, in my skill level than  before. I've posted some of these attempts below, with each image linked to the contests so that you can see who the winner was, and judge for yourself, did I deserve to be a:

Asian Rescue Food Truck REJECTED - the client ended up going with the phrase "Shanghai Emergency" which I guess the artist came up with, could be why they won

So what you think? Do you agree with the client decisions? Or do you think I should have won any of these? Or was it just plain foolish of me to participate in this sort of a venture at all? Let me know how you feel by filling out the Contact Form below. And also, if you've gotten this far down the page and are still reading this, I want to sincerely thank you for checking out my work and some of my thoughts. I'd really love to hear from you.
